Any particular part in mind to port or retexture? It fine by me if you have replacements too. I just got to be creative there.Īdmentus Wrote:Sure, I don't mind if you want to help me out. I get back to that in V0.3 and redo most likely some icons. V0.2 intends to do the racing tracks since I am bored doing the menu's. Also, from time to time my schedule can be quite occupied, so that's another limitation too. It might have said it before, but I am currently having a break since V0.1 wore me out. Resize, rescale, reframe, cut, you name it. Besides almost all textures were just in plain wrong format. So that is a minimum of 320 textures already. Every track name? Consists out of five textures and are being dumped at least four different times. V0.1 may have took long and may seem small on content but that is because of all the multiple dumped textures, most of them being part of backgrounds. However, keep in mind that this game tends to dump the exact same texture multiple times (tens of times).
In fact they often tend to be chosen above my own methods (since I am not that great really). I don't intend to set my stamp on my projects, I just port it and any contributions are welcome. Sure, I don't mind if you want to help me out. I'm still sorting textures in my projects. If you've ever tried to start a project on your own you'd know what I mean, it can be overwhelming sorting through everything. Sadly the core for this project is not on the same level as Super Mario 64 or Zelda 64. It is probably not going to be part of V0.2. Things like the Flower Cup logo are not defenitive, just temporary. There is no need to use this pack right now if you don't prefer so. Feedback is fine, but you should just wait a few updates. Everything else so far was ported by masterotaku so far, I just wanted to complete that. V0.1 did practically only add the main menu. It is still very much work in progress, so a lot can and will change. Got to do it with the material I can find. But honestly said that was the fault of the original HD textures themselves, not mine. The grammar mistakes are being fixed in V0.2. I still intend to finish this port, yeah. You rather want me to work on something different? Well. You probably missed out on a few of my notes here. On a somewhat different note, about the textures Admentus, I was wondering if you wanted to send me some that you need help on, I'd be more than happy to help out a little. That doesn't happen overnight, it entails more than you may realize. So my point is that it can be difficult and very depressing to have people telling you that you did a bad job, in the end it's better to give suggestions instead of just lazily telling what you didn't like about it. I have left unfinished textures many of times and also underwent great criticism, eventually changing the method I used to make my textures in my whole texture project over 3 times. So "stylistically all over the place" I'll use myself as an example, I've sometimes used completely different textures just to get an idea of how it should look, so don't expect it to stay one way indefinitely. As all the projects are are WIP I refrain from talking bad about the persons hard work especially since I don't know how long Admentus has had to work on them. I looked at the textures the other day too and noticed those same things. Maybe if nothing else, having it dumped and put in a pack proper would make it easy to modify at least. Granted, this is a port of what I assume is the only available texture pack of the original game, but I'd personally ask if it's worth the effort.
And then you have the Flower Cup logo which was taken straight out of the original low-res Fire Flower texture from PM:TTYD. Then you have things that are outright wrong like the use of the Blue Shell as the Special Cup logo. Most of the font looked like it put the original textures through a filter in Photoshop instead of being properly redrawn.

Many of the character textures used in the GUI aren't even sourced from the same place (the character icons during a race are outright taken from entirely different series of games, like Yoshi's icon from SSBM).
